‘Learn Hair Extensions’ - CPD Programme
‘Learn Hair Extensions’ is a new programme designed specifically for colleges preparing to offer students the new NVQ Level 3 optional hair extension unit (Unit H23). AD Hair Extension Training School has created this course to meet demand from colleges that are looking for a ‘one stop’ training package that matches the hair extension unit criteria. Unlike other training on offer in extensions, AD School provides 16 courses covering all methods of attaching hair pieces to create volume, add length, highlights and colour and also to shorten hair.

Course Outline
‘Learn Hair Extensions’ is designed to cover all content required to run extension courses to meet City & Guilds NVQ 3 standards and species that colleges must cover the following extension methods:

Day One Module A: Plaiting
9.00am - Registration, training packs & kit including consultation
9.30am - Plaiting with and without fibre
3.30pm - Learning how to build speed in plaiting
4.30pm - Removal, care & maintenance
5.30pm - Examination

Day Two Module B: Cornrow (*required for sewing)
9.00am - Registration and training pack
9.30am - Cornrow with and without fibre
12.45pm - Cornrow to create base for weaving
3.30pm - Completing a full head of cornrow for weaves
4.30pm - Removal, care & maintenance
5.30pm - Examination

Day 3 Module C: Sewing*
9.00am - Ensuring mannequin prepared with cornrows ready*
9.30am - Learning how to add extensions by sewing on wefts
2.15pm - Completing a full head by sewing on hair wefts
4.00pm - Removal, care & maintenance
5.30pm - Examination

Day 4 Module D: Fusing & Bonding Course
9.00am - Registration. Training packs & kit including consultation
10.00am - Applying extensions using the Glue Gun method
1.45pm - Applying American Dream pre-bonded hair extensions
3.15pm - Fusing / Cold ‘temporary’ bonding extensions
4.00pm - Removal, care & maintenance
5.00pm - Examination

* Sewing requires attendance on Module B : Cornrow, on Day Two, during which students learn how to create a sew-on-weave base.

Each day includes a number of refreshment and lunch breaks & courses come with training manuals & a short examination is taken at the end of the day to qualify students.

Tools are supplied for training purposes although orders can be placed for personal kits prior to attendance.

Hairdressing lecturers/trainers that wish to offer extensions as part of the new NVQ 3 will find that ‘Learn Hair Extensions’ and it’s modular format allows them to attend the full course or one of the four modules depending on their existing knowledge of hair extension applications.

Why is this course four days long when others teach extensions in one day or less?
There are many suppliers of hair extension ‘systems’ that offer training in their own particular method, often some form of bonding whether by glue-gun or with pre-bonded hair. There are also brief overview seminars and one-day workshop style courses that provide an introduction to hair extensions. However, AD School abides by its own founding philosophy to provide high levels of training in all techniques, not just one particular method or system, which we feel cannot be achieved without hands-on, practical training or within a shorter period than the ‘Learn Hair Extensions’ course schedule.
